This week (1-7 June 2026) is Volunteers’ Week, and we’re looking forward to introducing you to some of the people who volunteer across the Foundation.
The volunteers we’re putting in the spotlight this week are:
- Bill Wood, a volunteer archivist at Whitgift School, who helps to preserve records of Old Whitgiftians and keep the Foundation’s past alive
- Carlie Wilkie, who helps reunite Trinity School pupils with their lost belongings
- Jill Proctor, who, along with her husband Ian, brings extra joy to Whitgift Care residents
- Ray Dunkely, one of the extraordinary Cadet Force volunteers at Trinity School
They are amongst the reported 14.2 million people in the UK who have formally volunteered at least once a month in the last year. Figures from the Royal Voluntary Service and NCVO highlight how 25 million people volunteered informally at least once in the same period.
Our volunteers’ stories show that whether you have an hour to spare here or there or want to give your time regularly, there are a range of opportunities for you to make a difference in your community.
Thanks to everyone who gives their time to the John Whitgift Foundation. We appreciate you all.
