Wilhelmina House, part of Whitgift Care in Croydon, is inviting local people to a community barbecue on Saturday 12 September. It’s an opportunity for anyone considering care for a loved one to see the home, meet the team, and chat with residents in an informal setting.
Choosing a care home is a big decision. The BBQ offers a relaxed alternative to a formal tour, as visitors can wander the grounds, ask questions over food and get a feel for day-to-day life at the Park Hill Rise site from the people who live and work there.
A purpose-built residential and respite care home, Wilhelmina House is known for its beautifully kept garden, terrace and garden rooms. Residents spend much of their time relaxing in these spaces or taking part in the home’s activities programme. Visitors on the day will see these areas, with staff on hand to talk about the home’s approach to residential, respite and end-of-life care.
“We know how daunting it can be to start looking into care for someone you love,” said Magda Kuffel, Home Manager. “Events like this remove some of that pressure. You can enjoy some food, chat to me and my team, and experience life at Wilhelmina House for yourself.”
The home provides care for residents aged 65 and over. It is set up for residents with a wide range of needs, including those with audio/visual impairments, difficulty walking, and age-related memory loss. More information on the facilities is available here.
Wilhelmina House is part of the John Whitgift Foundation, which has supported the local community for more than 400 years.
