Our Mission & Values
We aim to bring everyone together for the benefit of all
We aim to bring everyone together for the benefit of all
John Whitgift’s founding legacy was to educate and care for the people of Croydon. Today John Whitgift Foundation supports Croydon people of all ages and backgrounds. We aim to bring everyone together for the benefit of all – inspiring a sense of community in everything we do. While there has been a lot of change for John Whitgift Foundation throughout our 425-year history the values John Whitgift stood for are as relevant today as they were in our founding year of 1596.
Our charity works to support people of all ages and backgrounds and brings them together to inspire a sense of community in all that we do. From supporting students with scholarships and bursaries in our outstanding independent schools to caring for those around us through Whitgift Care we aim to inspire all around us.
As one of the largest bursary providers in the country, we support thousands of young people with access to an outstanding education at our independent schools, Old Palace of John Whitgift, Trinity School & Whitgift School.
Through the Whitgift Care branch of the Foundation, we operate a range of care settings and services, from residential care within the retirement community to sheltered housing, full-time person-centred care and respite care. We aim to give our residents a true sense of community, comfort, and joy in later life.
Our Carers Information Service offers advice, information and support to Croydon’s 34,000 unpaid carers. Located in the heart of Croydon in George Street, our Carers Information Centre is free and available to every carer in the London Borough of Croydon.
