John Whitgift Foundation is delighted to announce that its new Chair is Fiona Fletcher-Smith
Fiona is currently Chief Executive at L&Q, one of the UK’s largest charitable housing associations. She is also Chair of the Centre for London, and later this Spring will step down as Chair of the G15, the group of London’s largest housing associations.
Fiona brings a wealth of experience to the Foundation, particularly in terms of regeneration, working in regulated sectors and leading big organisations. She lives in Croydon with her family.
Fiona was appointed following a competitive process and is taking up the position following Christopher Houlding’s retirement. The Foundation wishes to express its deep gratitude to Christopher for over twenty years of service, the last ten of which have been as its Chair.
John Whitgift Foundation was established in 1596 by its founder to care for and educate the people of Croydon. The Foundation is governed by its Court, which Fiona will shortly join and chair.
On behalf of the Court of Governors, Asif Patel, Chair of the Appointments Committee, said:
We are delighted to have selected Fiona as our new Chair. Fiona is a hugely experienced leader and we look forward to working with her to continue to deliver on the vision of our founder.
We also want to take this opportunity to thank Christopher Houlding who has been tireless in his service to the Foundation. He has helped us navigate many difficult issues, as well as ensuring that the Foundation continues to deliver its charitable objectives.
Fiona Fletcher-Smith said:
I am really excited to take over as Chair and to continue the superb work of the Foundation, honouring our past whilst continuing to support Croydon’s future.
Fiona is the current chair of trustees at the Centre for London, helping the capital’s think tank to meet their charitable objectives. Fiona is also Chair of the G15 group of London’s leading not-for-profit housing associations. Its members provide more than 715,000 homes across the country, including around one in ten homes for Londoners.
