Alexa’s Story – Old Palace School

Alexa completed her studies at Old Palace School in 2008 with straight A’s throughout her education. She went on to study French and Politics at Exeter University and received a first class honours in her degree. She currently works for a national charity that supports blind and partially sighted people as their Head of Impact and Evaluation.

“Studying at Old Palace School was great fun; I think the teachers are what makes it so special. Old Palace definitely inspired my passion for music, not only the enjoyment of playing an instrument but also the confidence to go out there and perform. John Whitgift Foundation bursary gave me access to an incredible education that I never would have otherwise had access to. It’s an opportunity that’s once in a lifetime and will shape your life forever.”

Old Palace School offers bursaries for applicants up to 110% of the fee amount to cover the cost of tuition fees and help with additional costs such as school uniform, lunches and trips. Old Palace School bursaries are offered to girls applying for a place in Year 7 who meet the bursary criteria. Bursary amounts are means-tested and dependent on a family’s individual financial circumstances and highest performance on the entrance exams. In line with our founder’s wishes, the bursary fund is to support students from low-income families as part of its charitable commitment to the community and the education of children.

John Whitgift Foundation grant over £5 million a year in bursaries across our three schools to grant life-changing opportunities for young people in the Croydon area and grant them an outstanding education. For more information on bursaries, scholarships and fee assistance visit our Bursary FAQ page or visit the Old Palace School website.
